Doha, Qatar: President of the Federal Republic of Somalia H E Hassan Sheikh Mohamud hosted a team from Qatar Chamber led by its Chairman Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim Al Thani at his residency at the Sheraton Hotel.

Eng. Ali bin Abdullatif Al Misnad, Dr. Khaled bin Klefeekh Al Hajri, Naser Sulaiman Al Haider, and Dr. Mohamed bin Jawahar Al Mohamed were among the delegation’s board members.

H E Dr. Abdullah bin Salem Al Nuaimi, the Ambassador of Qatar to Somalia, also attended the conference. During the discussion, both parties discussed the commercial and investment links between the two countries, as well as ways to strengthen them, as well as the role of the private sector on both sides in expanding these contacts and fostering bilateral trade exchange.
In his remarks during the meeting, Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud complimented the tight relationship between his nation and the State of Qatar, emphasising the role that the private sector can play in boosting trade links between the two countries.

Sheikh Mohamud reviewed his country’s economic climate and the incentives it provides for investors, urging Qatari companies to investigate the potential available in Somalia for establishing projects in various areas. Mohamud stated that Somalia welcomes Qatari investors in a variety of critical sectors, including infrastructure, services, mining, livestock, fisheries, oil, gas, and others, adding that Somalia provides a dynamic investment atmosphere as well as several advantages for international investors.

He emphasised that Somalia had a unique geographical location in Africa, as well as the continent’s longest coastline and the most cattle.

The Somalian President stated that his nation sends cattle to a number of countries via its four ports, from which the State of Qatar may import what it requires.

Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim Al Thani, for his part, stated that the Qatari private sector is eager to strengthen ties with its Somali counterpart, stressing that many Qatari firms are interested in investing in Somalia.

He stated that the Qatar Chamber is keen in encouraging Qatari businesspeople to engage in sister nations such as Somalia, which provide great economic prospects.
