Cory Sandhagen put in an impressive display as he got the better of Marlon Vera at UFC Fight Night.

The bantamweight bout, which headlined the event in San Antonio, Texas saw Sandhagen take the win via a split decision.

Sandhagen started on the front foot and took the fight on the canvas to frustrate Vera in the first two rounds.

Vera was on the attack in the third but couldn’t hurt his opponent in any significant way. However, he rallied towards the end of the fourth.

Sandhagen’s methodical approach saw him ultimately control the fight, and he proved a worthy winner, despite one of the judges surprisingly calling the match in favour of his opponent.

In the joint-main event, Holly Holm’s ground game proved too much for Yana Santos in the women’s bantamweight clash.

The veteran former champion won by a unanimous decision.

Elsewhere on the card, Victor Altamirano defeated Vinicius Salvador by a unanimous decision, while CJ Vergara beat Daniel Lacerda by TKO in the second round of their match.

Trevin Giles got the better of Preston Parsons by a split decision as Lucas Alexander beat Steven Peterson by a unanimous decision.

A guillotine choke from Daniel Pineda was enough to submit Tucker Lutz in round two, and there were split decision wins for Albert Duraev and Maycee Barber over Chidi Njokuani and Andrea Lee respectively.

Nate Landwehr beat Austin Lingo by submission in round two with a rear-naked choke.
