Norway’s Gyda Westvold Hansen completed a perfect season in style, making it 10 wins from 10 on home snow in Oslo.
The 20-year-old was crowned a double world champion in Planica last month, and was favourite to make it a clean sweep of World Cup victories with a lead of 1:01 going into the 5km cross-country ski following her ski jumping win on Thursday.
Compatriot Ida Marie Hagen closed that gap down to 46 seconds to earn silver and Japan’s Anju Nakamura also gained time to take bronze.
The fabled Grand Slam was within Westvold Hansen’s reach with two events to go last season, but the Norwegian failed to finish in Schonach 364 days ago as Nakamura secured her first World Cup win.
Westvold Hansen was already confirmed as the field’s best jumper for a third successive season and the crowd in Oslo had plenty more to celebrate.
Hagen brought home another clean sweep for Norway as the 22-year-old was awarded the best skier trophy following ten consecutive scores of 100 points.
Hagen won bronze in the overall standings, while Germany’s Nathalie Armbruster claimed silver, 411 points off Westvold Hansen.
