Wales sit top of Group D after two games in European Championship Qualifying following a 1-0 win over Latvia on Tuesday night.

Kieffer Moore’s headed finish four minutes before half-time proved the difference as Rob Page’s side built on their 1-1 draw at Croatia on Saturday.

Gareth Bale – who retired from football after the 2022 World Cup in Qatar – addressed a sold-out Cardiff City Stadium crowd before kick-off.

Meanwhile, Chelsea midfielder Mateo Kovacic scored twice as Croatia beat Turkey 2-0. Zlatko Dalic’s side are second, while Turkey are third. Armenia and Latvia, both without a point, prop up the group.

Norway picked up their first point in Group A as they were held to a frustrating 1-1 draw in Georgia. Without their talisman Erling Haaland – who is injured – they took a 15th-minute through Alexander Sorloth, but Georges Mikautadze levelled on the hour-mark.

Scotland sit atop Group A following a fine 2-0 win over Spain with Scott McTominay grabbing both goals.

Switzerland continued their 100% record in Group I with a 3-0 win over Israel. Ruben Vargas opened the scoring in the first half with Zeki Amdouni and Silvan Widmer adding goals after the restart.

They’re level on six points with Romania, who defeated Belarus 2-1 thanks to first-half goals by Nicolae Stanciu and Andrei Burca. Uladzislau Marozau netted a late consolation for the visitors. Elsewhere in Group I, Kosovo and Andorra played out a 1-1 draw.
