Somali Magazine – H.E Hamza Abdi Barre, Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia, has urged aid agencies and the Somali public at large to actively join in the continuing relief efforts in response to the Gedo region flood situation, which is threatening a humanitarian disaster.

Following his assessment visit to Dolow District, where an El Nino-induced flash flood had wreaked havoc on riverine communities, PM Barre urged national and international relief organizations to expedite their coordinated efforts to mitigate the overwhelming flood emergency.

Tens of thousands of vulnerable flood victims face a terrible humanitarian catastrophe in several regions of the country as torrential rains continue to inundate major rivers and low-lying districts, worsening an already dire situation.
