Despite ongoing Western pressure, Eritrea has developed as a prominent player in the Horn of Africa, which many perceive as a failure of Western policy in the Horn of Africa.

According to reports, their conversation centered on bilateral relations between the two countries.
According to the Ministry of Information, Isaias Afeworki stated that “…the crisis in Sudan could only be solved by the Sudanese people themselves, without the participation of international actors…”
The answer of Gen. Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo is unknown. However, Eritrea’s Ministry of Information stated that the Sudanese leader congratulated Eritrea on renewing its membership in IGAG and highlighted a meeting of member states’ foreign ministers.
In the afternoon, the Eritrean president greeted Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, who is supposed to be in the nation for a two-day state visit.
According to the ministry, the two presidents will address bilateral relations as well as regional developments affecting their respective countries.
Meanwhile, Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed visited South Sudan and spoke with President Salva Kiir and opposition leader Reik Machar. Abiy Ahmed did not explain why he led a group to South Sudan, only that he informed the leaders of Ethiopia’s desire to assist peace in the country.
